Also the take of liverock is illegal in NC. Plus its all rock put there by man and is typically dense (not porous) granite as opposed to calcium carbonate and serves poorly as biological filtration.

its all good man, like i said befor im a newbi at this and i did not know any of the above that u stated. pretty much all of the rock i found didnot have anything growing on it but alot seemed to be very porus. I found a few sponges and shells that were covered in barnacles and i know alot of the barnacles were alive.
