37 tall, tropical community. Black skirt tetras, red/blue Colombian tetras, Buenos Aires tetras, bloodfin tetras, peppered cory cats, rubber lip pleco, and a pictus catfish. T8 light, Penquin 200 bio-wheel filter, eco complete and black gravel mix substrate, some rock, some silk plants. This is the simplest, easiest running tank I've ever owned. I love it.
55 gallon mbuna African cichlids. Yellow labs and female Kenyi's. There's a bristlenose pleco too. Lava rock, texas holey rock, carib-sea dry aragonite sand, silk plants, 2 Penquin 350 biowheel filters.

What kind of bulb is that? I would love for my tank to be that clear and white. I'm really regretting not going with a dark substrate.

Thanks RJB.
Dontgetbit, it's a regular T8 from petsmart. 20 watt, I think. I think the lamp temp is 8,000k. I'll try to remember to look on the bulb tonight when I feed them.
You have a 55, right? I would look into a 2-lamp t5 fixture. Either the high-output Nova Extreme freshwater from Current, or the normal output Coralife t5 aqualight freshwater. Both are nice fixtures, with the high output obviously being more light. My 55 gallon cichlids (the one pictured above) has the Coralife t5 aqualight, but the saltwater bulb combo.
I'll try to find a picture of my old 40 breeder with the coralife freshwater lamps.

nice looking tanks fewskillz.
You can get T5 HOs at Progressive Gardens on Oleander Drive across from Flips BBQ for CHEAP! Single 48" T5 HO with ballasts, bulb & reflector for $50 I believe. I just traded 2 of them that I bought a few months ago there (for my 265) for some smaller ones for a planted tank I have.
If you ever are looking for Central or South American cichlids, let me know. I have many varieties Im always moving around...all the ones I have now (about 16 different species) are around 2-4 inches. PM me if youre looking for something in particular.

I was thinking about getting a 2-lamp 36" or 48" fixture when I build a canopy. I will have to look for that bulb at Petsmart. My bulbs now are a Phillips 15 watt plant/aquarium 2700K and a GE Aqua Rays 15 watt fresh/salt 9325k. They are at opposite ends of the spectrum.
I picked up a Firemouth tonight to complete my stock in the 55. The guy had a 55 with CA cichlids and some 3M ColorQuartz in black. I have am sold on that substrate now. There is a building supply place in Raleigh that carries it so I will be swapping out my pea gravel soon.

NICE looking Tanks everyone.
Heres some pics of my current tanks.
1st: 33 gal. long planted tank with 6 Honduran Red Point fry growing out
2nd: 75 gal Holding tank. Separated 3 ways splitting up 3 Nandopsis Tetracanthus (Cuban Cichlids) that are trying to kill each other. I will be re-homing these as soon as I find people that want them and putting my spawning Red Terror (ex-Cichlisoma Festae) pair in here to have babies for a while.
3rd: 265 gal. from September last year, planted. Too big for a planted tank for my taste, so I moved them out. There were about 20 fish over 4 inches in there (including a breeding pair of Red Terrors that were 10 & 7 inches), you just cant see them. They were hiding under the rocks & wood because I had just flipped the lights on...off their timed schedule.
4th: 265 gal. now, with around 16 species of Central Americans under 4 inches. Growing them out to see who can live together for the long term. Its still in the works of new aquascaping.
