I wont make an offer if you just got him. You should enjoy him for a while. Where did he come from?

To reply to the poll you added, It depends on the model. I have an Octo extreme 300 and an RSA250.2A. The Euroreef will eat the Octo for breakfast. I am about to purchase two bubble blaster 5000 for my octo extreme. I am sure this will perform better than the euroreef, I am throwing an extra $450 in pumps at it though.

It comes down to the model pumps that come with the skimmer, The new euro reef pumps (super modded sedra 5ks) are beasts and pull twice as much air as the comperable Sicce pumps. (Sicci's are junk) If you go with the octo, make sure it is the newer model that uses the bubble blaster pumps.

I run a euro-reef and like it, but a little loud.

I have an Octo extreme 160 with the Sicce and it does great. To say Sicce are junk is going a little overboard IMO . Yes they have start up issues but many people use them and they work great. Most of the time mine starts up fine, but I have had to blow in the airline once or twice. I always leave it running and don't cut it off so I don't usually have to worry with it. Also the new red demon impeller is supposed to negate some of the issues. The bubble blaster is without a doubt a better pump but some people don't have the money for a skimmer with that pump and there are other things that will work just fine.
