Try some bloodworms or blackworms we had one for 3+ months and it would eat like a champ but to my suprise one morning he was dead IMHO it is a fish that is best left in the ocean as the survival rate of more than a few months is not good at all as most are cyanide caught and shipped in a copper solution just my 2 cents though.

Clams. Donax variablis are the best thing I have found for finicky butterflys. Try the local seafood market......or the best thing you have......for the smallest clams you can find. Mussles will do if thats the best you can find. You may need to cut it into smaller bits to get them to take it if you can't find small ones.

I have had my CB for about 10 months now. I got mine to start feeding by starting him on live brine shrimp. After feeding him shrimp for a couple days I started giving him frozen shrimp and now he eats everything I drop in the tank. If you do not have access to live shrimp try live blackworms. They like to peck at their food so many people will take a pvc end cap and drill holes in it and then use a magnet to attach it to the glass. The CB has to pull the blackworms thru the holes. It's similar to the way they are accustomed to eating in the wild.

I've kept mine for about 5 years I'd say and he/she loves PE Mysis and bloodworms. Won't touch any other brand of mysis though. Also will devour aptasia and majanos, so I just rotate rocks that get them into his tank. Works like a charm.

As you can see the feeding strategies for CB Butterflys are widely varied. Has anything worked yet?

Clams on the half shell, or rubberband some other foods to rocks (table shrimp, cubes of bloodworms or mysis, etc).

Mortality for CBB's just as high as Morrish Idols.

4 years ago, we purchased two MI's they would not eat for weeks, I accidently left Frozen Mysis out on the edge of the tank for 2 days. I then accidently put it into the tank. You guessed it, The Idols ate. Now when ever I have a pick eater. I try the same thing. About 70% of the time it works.
