Default :-( Sidward died...

So...

Only having 2 false percs, a coral beauty and a diamond-back goby in my tank, I didn't think I needed any type of lid or cover for my aquarium, nor has it been an issue since I started my build a few months ago.

Well...the other night I heard a **bloop** coming from my aquarium and I got out of bed to see what it could be. It was pretty loud...

I went over to the tank with a flashlight to see what it could of been.

Coral Beauty - Check
Clownfish - Check
Corals - Check (duh)
Diamond-back Goby - MIA (normal though, he sleeps under rocks at night)

I even shined the flashlight all around the ground around the tank for good measure.

Well....yesterday my dog was scratching underneath my tank vigorously and I got curious. I looked under the tank and there was Sidward, my glorious Diamondback Goby and my favorite fish. He was hard as a rock, and beyond saving.

He was my favorite fish :-( He always swam to the glass when I came near the tank, and always swam up near my hand when I was feeding the tank flakes and mysis. He was only 3-4 weeks old, such a little guy.

This was the first "death" in my tank, and it might sound odd but it didn't feel good AT ALL. Yeah, they might just be fish but sheesh...it will take it's toll on you, especially when I sit in front of my tank a total of a few hours each day to see how everything is going and interact with the fish.

Anyway....LONG LIVE SIDWARD THE GOBY!

PS - take care of your fish and put a lid on it! I went out and made one the moment I found him underneath my tank.

Sorry for your loss. Some lessons don't hit home until you learn them the hard way. Chalk it up to the learning curve.

+1 to that brother, when my porcupine puffer died, I actually cried. Who would have thunk that you would get so attached to a fish. Coverage of the tank is the best and safest route. I've had a few fish jump in to the back of the all in one tank I have. Now everything has a cover... RIP SIDWARD

Yeah I was kinda heartbroken when my fuzzy dwarf lion went carpet surfing. I'm SOOOOOO glad my wife found him dried up on the carpet instead of my 1 year old son

Sorry to hear about your loss. I think most of us have been there. Last week, my diamond jumped from the back of the canopy, over the railing from the second floor all the way to the first floor and heard a 'plop'. I rushed him back upstairs. He lasted several hours...but...

Anyway, sorry for the rambling. It hurts when we lose a critter.

Sorry for your loss. Some fish are just fish & others have a special place in your heart. I've been there also.

Thanks for all of the support. I'm not gonna lie Ocean, I would of giggled a bit of something like that happened to me (the 2 story dive), but then I would of been sad. Sheesh what a daredevil.
