Well the tank is trying to settle in, but have lost a few things. I lost a acropora colony to RTN. Also, some of the other corals did not take the move to well, but they seem to be trying to come back.

Best of luck on the recovery of those corals. Looks like for the most part the colony is healthy so hopefully the branches that have shown regression will slowly come back to life!!

So one question. The acropora florida was green with purple tips when I got it. It turned brown after a week in my tank, but now as you can see the base is turning the green color as when I purchased it. There is the one branch that is all white. I'm really not sure what is going on with this coral. I thoughit was going into RTN, but then the base was turning that nice green color? The green color is slowly moving up the branch replacing the brown. On the brown side it has good polyp extension so I guess it is doing alright. I think at this point I'm just going to leave it be and hopefully it will recover.

This is what it looked like when I got it.

All my parameters seem to be in check:
sg = 1.025
pH = 8.1
kh = 8
Ca = 400
Mg = 1150 ( a little low)
temp = 80
nitrate = reads o ppm (no algea problem)
phosphates = reads o ppm (no algea problem)

Default update

Well things have been pretty stable lately so I thought I would add some new pictures. I got a few new pieces as a tank warming present to myself. I changed my lights to 2x250watt XM 10,000K bulbs with 2x65Watt PC super actinic (420 nm) & actinic blue (460 nm). In my old tank the coral really responsed well to the 10,000K bulbs and with the actinics it is anice crisp white. I'm going to add more actinics in about a month because I really like the white/blue look.

The skimmer has been really pulling some nasty sludge out of the tank. Every three days I have to empty. The autotop off with the aqualifter pump is working really well. I have it hooked to a timer and a double float switch. Also, I think I have a kalk in the autotop off dialed in for consistent results.

Well still trying to work on my picture taking skills. I wish my canon elph 10 megpix camera had a manual focus. That is the one thing I wish those point and shoot cameras had.

Here are some pics.

new lobophylia that I got (nice turquoise green) - go jags! (have to support my home NFL team.

some candies that I got at the last fragswap from Star

Purple acro from Fragspawn LLC (doing really well)

Birdsnest from DU - Thanks Cindy!
