Please be wary of mixing local elements with tropical critters. Are you planning on this being a local tank?

Also the take of liverock is illegal in NC. Plus its all rock put there by man and is typically dense (not porous) granite as opposed to calcium carbonate and serves poorly as biological filtration.

Sorry if it seems like I am "coming down" on you. If you have any questions just ask.

its all good man, like i said befor im a newbi at this and i did not know any of the above that u stated. pretty much all of the rock i found didnot have anything growing on it but alot seemed to be very porus. I found a few sponges and shells that were covered in barnacles and i know alot of the barnacles were alive.

Right on. The barnacles are filter feeders and unfortunately will probably not survive long. They require large amounts of small particulate food to sustain them. The amount of food necessary will usually cause water quality issues.

Did you get dry sand or wet sand?

sucks to hear that they will probally die rather quick but atleast it gives me somthin to look at when i look in the tank for now lol. the sand was mainly wet, was just about a foot from where the tide was coming up too at the time with it occassionally coming above where i was scooping it from. hopefully the wet sand was a good thing?
