Congradulations!

Sounds like you have a great home built for yours.
It is a wonderous thing.....I have a wild group out in the back yard/woods and had a similar experience outside my backdoor this past year. They are so small when they start heading out from the nest!

Aw! I love them. I have a box turtle pen too. Mine are 7 years old now, so maybe I'll have babies before too long.

Box turtle adults

Here's the old momma and her 11-yr old son. I found her in 1987 on NC-98 near the Durham/Wake Co line. She was full grown then, so she must be over 30 yrs old now. Notice she has 7 scutes down the middle (vertebral scutes) in a zig-zag pattern rather than the normal 5 in a straight row. She also has more yellow on the head than most female box.

Box Turtle Update -- they are all eating and doing well now, including Lefty who's neck is bent in that direction and has to really concentrate hard to turn right (you can see the intense determination in his tiny turtley face). I keep them in a sunny south window with a ZooMed Reptisun-5 light on during the day, and another light (Bright-Stick) underneath just for heat, day and night. They all eat earthworms, and some are starting to eat ReptoMin too. I gave 2 to a friend, then found another in the adults' pen, so I currently have six.

If we were allowed to have reptiles in campus housing, I'd get one from you Gerald, but unfortunately we can't.

Rachel's pretty good at making costumes. We could disguise one as a cockroach.
