Woke up to eggs in my tank... not my clowns, not my goby... I only have one cardinal, but now I know she must be female!

The male banghi's are actually the ones that carry the eggs in there mouth. They usually slow there feeding and sometimes stop eating. Not sure how you got eggs unless you haven't had him long and mated before picking him up. Interesting.

I agree with you, my friend. Congrats.

I've had several mated, assorted Cardinals and to IMHO, they are Cardinal eggs. The male will do his part once the female has laid the eggs and will carry them in his mouth until the clutch turns to fry. If you will notice more especially as they age, the male has just a slight squareness to its jaw compared to the female. Maybe for a bigger area by nature to carry the clutches?
