Internet browser problems (both Chrome and Opera)

I'm having some odd problems that have me close to putting a 12 gauge slug through my computer.

I do not know if they are related. My wife uses Firefox seemingly without trouble.

First--- the past couple weeks, Chrome won't load pages. It says "Waiting for Carolinafishtalk to respond....." (or any other website, even google.com). It waits and waits and then times out.
  • Restarting my computer helps the problem briefly, but it always goes back to doing it fairly quickly.

Second--- I installed the latest Opera the other day. It freezes. I can be typing, and suddenly the words stop showing up, the cursor sits still, and I can't click X to exit and I can't change tabs.

I'm clueless. If computers were made out of oak, maple, and sheetrock, then I could fix them.

Any suggestions?

Computer is a 2.4ghz dual-core AMD with 4gb ram. Internet is cable broadband. ISP is Crime-Warner Scandal.

I have been having issues with chrome were it sometimes will not load a page. I think the latest version is not the greatest.

Negative. My wife uses it, and we both have too many bookmarks to be mingling them lol.

You can make individual profiles in Firefox and not share.

I can get enough Firefox. Only way to ride...

Opera seems to be the fastest of the three, honestly.

I am starting to suspect the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 now. This was done a couple weeks ago, it's the only change I've done (of any substance) to this computer in months.

I'm having the same problem in Word 2007 that Opera has---- momentary freezing and "not responding" message. Lasts for 5-20 seconds.

Perhaps, but neither do I think Apple flavored Kool-Aid is the answer

I long for the day that open source stuff puts both the golden calf (Apple) and the bronze idol (Micropsycho) out of business.
