I'm not sure if it's just me but I have no issues posting pics from phone or PC. I will admit I hate the new layout of the forum but I can still navigate and post just like I used to in the past.

I changed my CFT layout back to classic mode and I see no difference now than I did prior to the update. I can't really comment on the site via phone because I really don't use my phone to browse websites (pretty much always have a computer around laptop/desktop). Social media is definitely the "it" platform, but I agree with Joe, I think the forums will always have a place. I like Facebook pages but of the Facebook pages I am a member of the content gets so jumbled that it is next to impossible to find or follow anything, especially topics and chats. That problem is even worse if you have a large number of people in the group. I am in one group that has over 5k members and there is just no way to keep up with anything on the page.

I think we need a poll to see whether it is just this isn't optimized for Apple products....I don't have any problems with pics or really anything else here either...and I always post from my mobile. :/

JoeCreature of course CFT did something right to make us pop up on google like that...stayed at least somewhat active for over a decade

As long as I get even ANY replies and interest here for RS and farm events, I will always post. But, it sure ain't like it used to be, and seems to get worse every year. :( However, the Facebook posts/pages are JUMPIN. If ReefSMART is to grow, or indeed survive at all, we NEED to be able to advertise to attendees! :/

Puffy - I dont think chat activity is a useful measure of a site's value as a reference for activities! Facebook is great for short attention spans, but is DREADFUL (IMHO) for announcing activities more than 1 day in advance. I'm with DBreefs on this issue. Event info placed on a forum is much easier to find days or weeks later; forums are far more useful as a bulletin board for events, as long as they pop up in Google searches. RAS abandoned its forum as everybody drifted into Facebook. and Charlotte Aquarists had the same thing happen; their forum still exists, but no new posts in months. There's now a backlash (among those who like real information more than vacuous chatter) wanting a forum again. I'm encouraging them to use THIS one rather than trying to resurrect an abandoned one.

Yeah, I will say that for all the likes and responses we get, there is a small percentage of that have have actually clicked "going" to the event. However...Google searches do me almost no good with this one. :( If you don't already know about the show, or indeed even what it is...it is really unlikely you will put anything in google that will return info on the show. The ads in the past on the forums have gotten thousands of views...now, not so much. :( And of course, even less chat activity. :(

Just playing devil's advocate here...I wish I could say the ads here were effective...but they really don't seem to be anymore. :(

Hopefully we can get some of them to join! I still feel good about the forum platform moving forward.

I know absolutely nothing about marketing and trying to organize events so I can't really comment on that topic other than to say I am sure it is a headache to make happen!

I think everyone should just switch back to classic view, that should help with a lot of the complaints....
