I'm thinking about getting one. Primary use would be fishing the rivers or coast. The thing is, I would probably take one of the kids along. Is it any fun fishing in a 2-person kayak? or should I get 2 single ones? I was thinking the smaller ones would be easier to put on a roof rack, and to haul around log jams if necessary. Any recommendations?

I have a couple small ones (Pamlico and Otter), about 8-9 feet, easy to load on the roof and lift over logs. Have not fished from them. The sit-on-top kind seems to be more popular for fishing; more room to put stuff.

I have had several... currently have a wilderness commander that I love... stand and fish all day...

But its a flat water boat for sure... if waves and current are possible and two seater I would look into the wilderness tandem kayaks... most can be converted from two people to one person easily... that way you have the option... u also won't find a better built boat than wilderness makes....
