Building up a frag tank

Hey everybody,
I'm setting up a stand alone 75gallon frag tank in the coming weeks. I have the tank already and am trying to avoid spending more on supplies other than lighting. (My 125 Display sucks up enough money). Anyways, The 75gallon is not drilled and I want to keep it that way. I'm looking for some advice. Should i put in a divider and have an "in tank sump", or just leave it all clean and throw on a hang on back protein skimmer and canister filter if need be. Any suggestions on filtration needed for a fishfree frag tank or lighting? I haven't decided between sand/liverock or bare bottom, it seems the sand/rock will give more stable parameters. Also as far as lighting goes, I don't mind spending more up front for long term benefit, so I am ok with LED, but don't wanna throw radions at it if you get my drift. Any experience/comments on a mixed frag(SPS/LPS/softie) frag tank would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
