beautiful fish, use to have some back in the day..I think if you had a pair then min. tank size would be 125 gallons. 6 foot long tank..When they are adults they can be very aggressive and that may be an understatement..lol beautiful fish, good luck...dont think you will have a problem with them..

They're awesome. What do you consider the min tank size?
Of course the bigger the better, but I have kept singles in a 55 a small pair would be okay in a 75 for a while. These sizes would not be considered ideal, but possible, with good water quality. These fish do get large although kind of slowly compared to other cichlids. My largest pair is in a 220 and the male is about 13 inches female is about 10 inches.

I currently have several 55 gallon tanks up and running with 10 to 15, two and three inch fish in them. They are constantly squaring off and some are starting to pair. This is why I need to move some out.

The main pair spawn regularly.I do not even try to save fry anymore I have no more space.

Thanks. Really more beautiful in person, my camera is like 10 years old. Lol I wish I could get better pictures that show the real intense reds and orange on these fish. And the males have that really pretty June bug green on their cheeks.
