Sales Policy

The following are CFT's sales policies. Please use some common sense in this and don't stretch the rules.

  • The single most important rule is Buyer/Seller beware. CarolinaFishTalk cannot be held responsible in anyway for any activity related to items being sold, traded or given away. Buying/Selling items online is inherently risky but common sense can go a long way.
  • This section is for aquarium related sales only, if its not aquarium related there is a separate section for your item(s)
  • All items must have an ASKING PRICE and YOUR LOCATION
  • Absolutely NO auctions or anything similar from members in any section sponsors are the only ones allowed to do auctions and only in their section
  • If you post an item that item must be yours and in your possession, no selling for a friend, neighbor, co-worker, etc.
  • No "Gauging Interest" or any similar type threads, either you're selling it or you're not.
  • No posting of for items you find online like ebay, craigslist or any other online site, again if its not your item do not list it (listing your own online add is acceptable)
  • Keep the off-topic chatter out of the for sale post, no posting anything negative about the sale…if you don’t like the price then don’t read the post
  • All transaction details should be accomplished via PM
  • This section is strictly for Hobbyists Only. If you are a business or buy for the intent to re sell items and would like to post your items see the advertising packages available. These decisions are based on a case by case basis at the discretion of the admin.
    • Advertising of services of any kind (fish related or not) is not allowed
  • There is an “iTrader” system on Carolina Fish Talk that should be utilized for every transaction possible as this protects all of our members as well as gives credit where credit is due (see more about this, including instructions below)
  • Members should attempt to work out any problems with a buyer/seller amongst each other civilly via PM, only using negative feedback as a last resort
  • Anything that has been posted prior to 3/22/2010 will be "grandfathered in". This means that if your post goes against any of these policies but was posted before this date then it can stay up on CFT, even if its bumped up.
  • Generally CarolinaFishTalk Staff will not get involved with disputes over a transaction unless there is an obvious case of abuse. Your best recourse if often to file a complaint using paypal.

iTrader
This system allows you to give buyer/seller either a positive or negative rating and a short comment on your buying/selling experience. See below for instruction on how to use the system. You are highly encouraged to use this system, it protects everyone.

  • Click on buyer/seller's username
  • Click on View Public Profile
  • Click on View full profile for xxxxxxxx
  • Click on Submit Feedback. This will allow you to leave a feedback and a short comment
Reporting a Violation

If you see any one violating the policy, please help us report it by clicking the
Image
on the top right corner of the post and state a reason.

For those that violates the policy will have their thread deleted if reported by a member.

This section is reserved for aquarium related items. The sales policy has been edited to clarify the information below.
Just as a reminder:
This section is for hobbyist only. If you are selling to make a profit, buying items with the intent to resell then you are not considered a hobbyist and will need to contact a moderator/administrator for sponsorship. This will be determined by the moderators/administrators on a case by case basis.

Just an FYI
With the INCREASED number of for sale threads there will no longer be warnings on putting location and/ price. From here on out any for sale threads that do not include these items will be deleted. Please remember we do not see all post all the time so if you see a post that does not include these items notify a mod.

Also please note that if you continue to violate the policy or guidelines set up for this forum warnings will be given out. Please take note on the for sales rules and guidelines. All warnings/ violations will be given out and determined at the discretion of the moderators/ admins

Just a reminder of the sales policy and the above quote in particular. Since the amount of sale items fluctuate and new members have joined I wanted to give this a bump and remind everyone that if a price or location is not listed the item for sale will be deleted.

Made an addition:
Advertising services (fish related or not) is not allowed

Also please take time to read the sales policies please if you have not done so before or if it has been a while since you read them last.

Please take time to read the for sale rules prior to posting anything for sale or trade. If you don't and your post gets deleted then you won't know why. But maybe it will prompt you to read them then.

Updated the auction for sponsors rule. Please note though, sponsor auctions are only allowed in their sections. Any member disgruntled with an auction should take it up with the sponsor. Post in other sections that are in a negative manner towards an auction will be deleted.

Regarding No Prices listed for Items For Sale

From this point forward ALL items being sold which do not include sales price and location will be deleted with no hesitation.

Everyone should be aware of this by now.

If it happens with the same seller, also expect a Ban ranging in time.
