Any idea if a sponge will choke out zoas? I've read mixed things online, such as they're symbiotic to they'll eventually take over the rock.

Noticed several have remained closed a few days and found this sponge underneath when I was taking a closer look today. Wondering if there's anything I should do. Probably hard to tell from the lighting but there's a yellow sponge on the right hand side underneath next to all of the closed polyps.

In my last build I had a yellow sponge that choked zoas and lps. I tried everything to kill it but it lived on. I guess they have been around for a few years and developed some resilience.

try to pluck off as much as you can with tweezers and then do a 1/3 peroxide/tank water solution in a container and dip for 4 minutes. Then put in a med/high flow area, repeat in a week if they still look choked out. hope this helps!
