Maybe try Oak Island, Kure Beach, or Carolina Beach. Those are the best ideas for an ocean front in my neck of the woods

 

Thanks Elbow, I have been looking at those along with Emerald Isle, Pine Knoll Shores, and Wrightsville beach. I was wondering though if someone had stayed somewhere in particular that they would recommend. It is hard to judge some of the places by the pictures in the listings online.

 

We've stayed a few places.. I tend to go for the high rises though, I like integrated restaurants and bars

We just stayed at Shell Island resort at Wrightsville 2 weekends ago- It's the last thing at the edge of the world Reasonably priced, not too showy, but very very clean, and walks on the beach were very peaceful LOL We went out about 10 pm or so, and there was no one out there Cool little poolside tiki bar

We stayed at Ocean 316 or something or other in Myrtle Beach last year.. Gorgeous place!!! But expensive...

 

We have a place at Topsail Island in a condo complex. Most of them are townhomes really. Ours is sort of ocean to the side but there are ones that are on the ocean (there is a little used road in between the townhome row and the access to the beach). SummerWinds. Nice places with a park across to one side and a private pool.

 

We go to Holden Beach. It's the best beach if you're looking for a family atmosphere but close enough if you want to go to Mrtyle Beach

 

Do you stay at any place in particular when you go there? Definately looking for the family atmosphere.

 

We go to Atlantic Beach and stay in half of a duplex on the beachfront - it's 5 bedrooms and $1500/week. It might be a bit large/much for what you're looking for, but let me know if you want the contact info. My family has been staying in the same one since before I was born Great for reunions, etc.

 

I will definately keep that in mind, I have been trying to get my sisters to come down that would be the perfect size if they did. Send me a pm if you don't mind with the info. If you had a couple of pictures as well that would help greatly.

 

We have a house there. But you can easily rent oceanfront properties.

 

don't really know what you're looking for...but we just stayed at an oceanfront house on Oak Island...the name of the house is Rose Dew. just google rose dew in oak island and check out the link. it was a beautiful house with an awesome view.

that's what i use when going anywhere

 

Outerbanks is awesome. Family has vacationed there for over 20 years. We have stayed at Topsail acouple times thats where we got married on the beach. Might be hard to find a smaller place thats dead on the beach though. These have all been big houses and the deck lead to the beach. Went to Ocean Isle yesterday nice area but has less stuff around then Topsail so if you like that.

 

Holden or Oak Island are great family beaches as well as Atlantic Beach, as long as you dodge the biker heavy areas.
